First Tournament Together?
Siyu was supposed to play a 3.0 Men’s Singles Tournament on Feb 8 as this has been rescheduled from January due to the rain. As a surprise, Binglun also registered the 3.0 Women’s Singles Tournament at the same place that day. It would have been the first time my pengrents play competitively side by side. I could watch them bring back a pair of medals to celebrate her birthday - how exciting would that be!!!
A few days before the start of the tournament, when the match schedules were supposed to be announced. Binglun received a message from the match coordinator that only 2 people registered for the 3.0 Women’s Singles. There’s no point playing in the tournament if there is only one opponent, and it ended up getting cancelled. That’s not a problem for 3.0 Men’s Singles, but Siyu was debating whether he wanted to play the tournament anymore now that Binglun would not be playing there since on the same day, his Busy Beavers 3.5 Singles Team has home court match, and BB needed a third player, otherwise they had to default a line. I guess Captain Lin wanted to be responsible for his team! As Siyu was checking with the tournament match coordinator, he realized that he did not registered successfully the tournament. His tournament was reschedule automatically, and this did not count! You still have to re-register the tournament so that it is official.
Neither my pengrents played a tournament that day. Siyu can played with his BB team and Binglun can practice for the first time with her 7.0 mixed doubles team, the Wild Cards led by Colin Tang. I guess everything worked out… in an unexpected way.
Potstickers
Well, Siyu ended up losing (yet again) in a 10-point tiebreak. Binglun’s on a very good mixed doubles team, and the practice went really well. BB lost all three lines that day, but both Han and Siyu fought hard in three-setter matches, and Haowen’s put on a show in his debut. They deserved potstickers, so they headed to the Santa Anita Mall right away to grab lunch and drinks. The original plan was Joy Taiwanese food in South Pasadena though, but it was a little bit late.
Hiking and Angel’s Gate
My pengrents took some rest in the afternoon, and were ready to take me and Sofie out for a hike on a small hill in Monterey Park!
